Annual ewaste day for City of Canada Bay

Annual ewaste day for City of Canada Bay

30 January 2019

City of Canada Bay will host the annual ewaste collection day on Saturday, 16 February from 9am-3pm at Cintra Park car park, Concord.

Hundreds of home entertainment, household and computer items have been recycled through this annual event, preventing potentially toxic rubbish going to waste disposal areas.

It is always a good time to clean-up and do the right thing with old and unwanted electronics. Around 95% of what we collect is recycled.

The City of Canada Bay and Drop Zone by MRI are making it easy for householders and small businesses keep their electronic waste (or ewaste) out of landfill.

Unwanted laptops, desktop computers, monitors, printers, scanners, copiers and related IT accessories contain materials that we need to recover and recycle to manufacture new products.

Sending them to landfill is not only a waste of scarce resources, it can potentially harm the environment and human health where hazardous substances like lead or cadmium may leach into waterways if not disposed of safely and correctly.

None of the collected items are resold or remarketed.

Eligible items are:

Household items such as irons, kettles, vacuums, TVs, DVDs, game consoles and computer equipment CAN be dropped off.

White goods such as freezers and fridges; lighting and hazardous items such as smoke detectors, broken glass and chemicals CANNOT be recycled.
