Sydney! Recycle your unwanted electronics for free

Sydney! Recycle your unwanted electronics for free

28 January 2019

Free e-waste drop-off day in Sydney for your old computers and televisions

It is always a good time to clean-up. Bring your old and broken computers, TVs, phones,
DVDs, household items with a power cord and more. Around 95% of what we collect is recycled.

The City of Sydney and Drop Zone by MRI are making it easy for householders and small businesses in Sydney to keep their electronic waste (or ewaste) out of landfill.

Unwanted laptops, desktop computers, monitors, printers, scanners, copiers, mobile phones and their accessories contain materials that we need to recover and recycle to manufacture new products.

Sending them to landfill is not only a waste of scarce resources, it can potentially harm the environment and human health where hazardous substances like lead or cadmium may leach into waterways if not disposed of safely and correctly.

None of the collected items are resold or remarketed.

Eligible items are:

  • Computers
  • CRT/LCD Monitors
  • Keyboards/Mouse
  • Printers/Scanners/Fax Machines
  • All Electrical Cables
  • Televisions, DVD players and projectors
  • Phones – mobile and landlines
  • Most household items with a power cord
